Introduction

Hi Folks!

This blog has been set up as part of a project for Stafford University's Technology Entrepreneurship class.  For my class project, I am creating a closed bid auction site.    This is a "project" I had studied and had multiple false starts trying to fly solo as regionally I am an anomaly as there is not much happening that is technology driven at a start up level.  I decided this class was a great opportunity to challenge myself and have fun with it while building a viable business.

I want to warn you, I am not much of a gambler and like to minimize loses.  My last trip to the casino cost me $2 dollars.  My last trip to Las Vegas cost me $20.  However, I spent over $5k on a real estate license. I like to consider myself thrifty but wise ; )

Over the years I acquired and kept the domain names closedbid.com and other versions including .ca with the intention of building the business.  There were a few false starts.  It turns out my humorous graphic design was too distracting and shocking for male viewers.  (a tutu wearing man sitting on a bench with the words below "Serious Auction").  I LOVED that image.  It was ironic and funny.  Sometimes the "artiste" gets in the way of the business woman.  Thus, collaboration with my team mates and putting the design up for a vote based on response rates will likely be the best way to success.

Some of the false starts were also due to site being hacked.  One of the benefits was that the site was still in the testing phase and I was forced to redesign it as new technology was emerging rather than hesitate because I had so much time invested.  At the time I attempted to accumulate interesting items in order to resell them on the closed bid auction site.  I realized I did not want to get into the inventory business.  Additionally, I wanted to include auctioneers by invitation only to reduce incidences of fraud.

I would like to explore different business models with this closed bid auction with my team mates and test different versions of it as to find a good fit.

In closing, for my instructor, assistants, mentors and team mates, you can message me on the venture lab website and request for an invitation to the Lean Launch Lab.  https://www.leanlaunchlab.com/projects/13256

Cheers!

P.S. Sister Media is the umbrella where I place all "projects" with the intent on creating a publishing/advertising company.
